J. B. Kripalani served as the President of the Indian National Congress from November 1946 to December 1947. India gained independence and underwent partition during his tenure. He was elected President at the Meerut session of the Congress in 1946. While holding this position, major decisions regarding negotiations with the British were primarily handled by leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Mahatma Gandhi.
C. Rajagopalachari was not the President of the Indian National Congress at the time of India's partition. He later served as the first Indian Governor-General.
Jawaharlal Nehru was the head of the Interim Government in 1946 and became the first Prime Minister of India. He was not the Congress President during the partition.
